Thoughts on Braindead Fashion

There is a rise of mindless brands, garments without meaning, without craftsmanship. Garments created to fit the short attention culture of social media.

There is a rise of mindless consumerism, people buying clothes to achieve attention rather that to express themselves.

One might ask himself what the difference between 2014 hyperbeast culture and todays TikTok fashion culture is. There barely is a difference.

For example: The brand supreme, representing an urban lifestyle, started as a skate brand, lost it´s cultural significance because of people buying the brand solely for the hype it carried at the time.

We see something similar happening to a lot of established fashion labels like Rick Owens or Balenciaga, people buy their clothes for attention, without acknowledging the cultural meaning and background of the brand.

The art of fashion is lost, and legitimately invested people are disregarded. Brands that do not produce fast paced, attention grabbing clothes are overlooked.

Do yourself a favor and stop looking at influencer fitpics and trend predictions, trust me when I say that it is easily recognized when your outfit does not truly represent you as an individual.

Start dressing the way you want, not what social media expects of you.

Merry Christmas.
